Uxbridge History and Heritage - Only In Pictures -The CO-OP

Uxbridge History and Heritage - Now Only  Pictures Remain

The sun has finally set, the story is finished, the book is closed. Once a very functional part of Uxbridge's farming community the CO-OP is no more.

When we first moved to town the co-op was a thriving business. A place where you could get the supplies you needed for the farm, from small implements and tools to seed, feed and fertilizer.

For the last few years it has sat closed up and derelict, to some an eyesore to others a piece of history soon to be gone.

Now it is a memory and like a fading photograph will soon be forgotten as it is replaced by a new modern office building.

Kathy,

Sad to see them go....similarly in other small towns, the Co-op is long gone. Guess not too many people have backyard laying hens anymore..

Progress, so they say. It's sad when a part of history is destroyed.

What a shame, Kathy - Too bad someone didn't try to make good use of it some how....

Oh I meant you should send them in and get paid for them! :-)

Debi -  they are recycling some of the material but the building itself apparently had outlived it's functional use as the only buyer was for the land under it

Kathy,

Very interesting and great creative photography!

It's always sad to see something like this, but I suppose it's progress.

Kathy:

Sometimes progress can be sad and yet, times do change. Great pictures!

Brian - this particular building lost it's meaning to be when they stopped using it for it's intended purpose.

Ty - Times and uses ..... it will be missed by some and yet it's demise will be cheered by others.

Kathy - It is so sad to see these places and memories disappear......     We have many historical places here that get torn down before enough folks can find a good use and object.....
